Creating the Water of Life in Saudi Arabia
Having been active in seawater desalination projects in Saudi Arabia since the 1980s, ITOCHU Plantech and a long-time manufacturing partner joined forces in 2010 to establish a reverse osmosis membrane manufacturing company.
Today, our work helps provide a stable water supply in Saudi Arabia.

Transportation Projects
Energy-saving project for railcars
Helping to improve the environment in an emerging country with Japanese energy-saving technology
The project: Modifying 135 subway cars owned by Kyiv (Kiev) Metro. In the project, ITOCHU Plantech supplied drive control equipment, auxiliary power, brake systems, and other equipment to a Ukrainian railway car manufacturer. With Kyiv Metro's Soviet-era subway cars showing their age, we modified their railcars to reduce power consumption and help Ukraine develop its energy conservation policy, as well as to reduce CO2 emissions.

Infrastructure Projects
This project was to build a new oil refinery with a 210,000-barrel annual refining capacity in Aliağa, near Izmir in western Turkey.
In May 2013, ITOCHU formed an international consortium with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) contractors from Spain, Italy and South Korea to win the order to build a refinery for STAR Refineri A.S. in Turkey.
For its part, ITOCHU Plantech provided support in Japan for orders with Japanese manufacturers and arranged financing for exports within the international consortium.
